Part of being an affiliate includes doing a review of the company's products. Stef Layton, the author of Educating Laytons, gave us a free copy of their ebook, Brick Animals, for the children to review.
Stef is a homeschooling mom to two energetic superheroes. She believes in hands-on
interest-led learning. Married to a busy traveling golf course architect, they have taken their homeschool on the road to enjoy many field trips. Stef is the author of EducatingLaytons.com.
Jake is an 11 year old fun loving competitive young man. He enjoys brick building, reading, art class, guitar, archery, soccer, and flag football. When he's not building you can find Jake on the
trampoline flipping his heart out.
I love working with my children, whether we are working together in the kitchen, on a school project or on our blogs! I also love seeing how other families are working together, like Stef and Jake!
When I was a kid we didn't have all the LEGO sets that the kids have today. Sometimes it bothers me that my children mostly just follow the directions and make their LEGO into the sets they have been given, instead of making creations just using their own imaginations. Brick Animals gave them an idea to work with, but without step-by-step instructions to follow, so they had to think about it a little more to get the desired result. (I realize that following LEGO instructions is very educational and even with instructions and sets I am thankful that my children love LEGO because I think it is one of the best things they could play with!)
